สองวันก่อน (๑๙ ม.ค.) ไปเดินพันธุ์ทิพย์ เห็นว่า DDR RAM ถูกจัง ๑,๘๓๐ บาท ขนาด 512M เลยซื้อมาแถวนึง

กลับมาถึงร้านเสียบ RAM ให้เป็นสองแถว 1G boot ขึ้นมาแล้วใช้งานไปแป๊บนึง เครื่องค้าง -_-" อาการเหมือนเมื่อตอนที่เสียบ DDR 256M เข้าไปเลย

ลองถอด RAM ตัวใหม่ จาก slot ที่สอง แล้วเสียบกลับเข้าไปใน slot ที่สาม เออ ใช้งานได้แล้ว เร็วจี๊ด ;)

เมื่อวานหลังจาก boot เครื่องขึ้นมาแล้วทำงานไปแป๊บนึง เครื่องค้าง -_-" ไม่เป็นไร ลองเปิดขึ้นมาใหม่ คราวนี้เจอที่ร้ายยิ่งกว่านั้น คือ ทำงานไปแป๊บนึง reboot เองอัตโนมัติ -_-"

เดือดร้อนเข้าห้องแชท TLWG ทาง IRC สอบถามเซียน ท่านบอกให้ลองนู่น ลองนี่ ลองนั่น ลองสารพัดท่า ก็ยังแก้ไม่ได้ ไม่รู้ว่าเป็นที่อะไรกันแน่ เพราะ RAM ก็ยี่ห้อเดียวกัน BUS เท่ากัน (แต่ ship คนละยี่ห้อ เพิ่งเห็นตอนดึก) จนในที่สุด อ.kitty แนะนำให้ลง ubuntu เลยดาวน์โหลดเวอร์ชั่น 5.10 มารอไว้

จากนั้นก็ตัดสินใจพักเอาไว้ก่อน ถอดแรมออกให้ทำงานได้แบบไม่ต้องเสียวสันหลังว่ามันจะค้าง หรือจะ reboot โดยไม่รู้ตัวอีก

ตกดึก บ้านอยู่ลึกในซอยเปลี่ยว ... ไม่ช่ายยยย ตกดึกปิดร้านแล้วเกิดเอะใจอะไรขึ้นมาไม่รู้ ลองเรียกใช้บริการน้องเกิ้ลดีกว่า searh หา linux a7v8x-x ddr 1g ก็ได้ข้อความเหล่านี้มาจากเว็บ

... In desperation I decided to flash by motherboard BIOS with version 1.009 BETA 1 - all my problems seem to be solved now. Plus my DirectX framrates have now doubled when I play N64 games using the 1946 emulator.

It worked for me - it may work for you.

My Setup:
AMD XP 2600+ (not overclocked)
512 MB RAM
ATI RADEON 7000
S3 Trio64V2 (secondry adapter)
Zoltrix BT878 TV Card

PS: The PCI S3 graphics card is set to master in the BIOS.
My BIOS AGP settings are now maxed out (all on AGP x4).
I don't seem to have any APIC problems.
I currently use 4in1 1.449v2

I have had the same issues as you all. But this is resolved now thanks to the tips each of you have posted. I really appreciate it! I had bought a new A7V8X-X and a gig of RAM (333 MHz) along with a new case with 400w AMD approved PS, AMD Athlon XP 2600 Barton Core, Zalman Copper Flower cooler, 120 gig HD and a DVD-RW. After RMA'ing the RAM and motherboard...neither solved the issue. I tried all possible configurations and could only find two configs that allowed the PC to boot and run. The first was to slow the CPU to 1567 MHz and the RAM to 266MHz. The second was to use only a single 512 Meg RAM chip in slot 3 on the mobo which would allow me to run the CPU and RAM at full speed. It appears to be an issue with the default settings and the default BIOS revision having a conflict with the AGP slot.

After reading through each problem and possible solution that is posted here, I did the following to resolve the issue. I went to the ASUS site and downloaded the BIOS revision BETA 1010.001 and installed it. Then, I went into the BIOS settings and selected the Advanced-->Chip Configuration and enabled AGP Performance Control and AGP Fast Write Control while making sure that the AGP video was set to primary. With this revision of the BIOS and the settings listed, the motherboard is now running very stable with 1 gig of RAM (two 512 chips) in slots 1 and 3 (as suggested on another site) with the CPU at 1917 MHz and the RAM at 333 MHz.

I hope this helps some of you out and you can avoid the hassles of RMA and shipping charges that only nets you the same problems.

Hi All!!

I've build 2 boxes for friends of mine and I also faced the problem you are described.

I was able to find the cause of the problem. It's compability issues with DDR 400Mhz. I would suggest to use DDR 333Mhz memory or then simply don't buy OEM.

Asus has a compatibility list for 400Mhz memory brands.
Most of the problems are because the memory used... give it a try...

นึกๆ ดู เราก็ปรับ BIOS ไปหลายอย่าง คล้ายๆ กับที่เขาบอกหมดแล้วนี่หว่า ก็เลยตัดสินใจว่าลอง update BIOS ดูสักครั้งท่าจะดีกว่า แรกๆ ก็หวั่นใจเพราะหนูไม่เคย (เลยกลัวการเปิดซิง) แต่หลังจากที่เข้าไปอ่านวิธีการ update BIOS ที่ www.asus.com แล้วก็คิดว่าไม่ยาก เพราะมันมี EZ Flash update (อะไรสักอย่างประมาณนั้น)

boot ขึ้นมาดูเลขเวอร์ชั่นของ BIOS ตัวเก่า เป็น 1011 เลยดาวน์โหลด 1012 มา update ดู อ้อ ก่อน update BIOS ก็จัดการ เสียบ DDR RAM เข้าไปเป็นสองแถวเหมือนเดิม ที่ slot 1 และ slot 3 แล้วก็ลุย

คราวนี้ boot ขึ้นมา และทดสอบการใช้งานอยู่นาน เออ ไม่มีปัญหาแล้ว แต่ว่าสังเกตเห็นอาการอืดของเครื่องเป็นบางช่วง คาดว่าไอ้ช่วงที่ว่านี่แหละ ที่ทำให้ตอนที่ยังไม่ได้ update BIOS แล้วเครื่องค้าง

เฮ้อ ได้ใช้เครื่องที่มี RAM 1G สมใจคนบ้าพลังสักที :D
